2007 TAB / SHRM Symposium
Pam Bratton
and Jill Silman manned the Career Consultants/Meador Staffing
"Java Jive" booth at the recent TAB /TSC Employment
Relations Symposium. The event, now in it's 29th year, attracts
nearly 200 attendees from all over the state of Texas. Most
of the attendees are human resource professionals or company
owners, attorneys and accountants. The presenters are typically
attorneys from across Texas speaking on Employment Law.
Pam and Jill
were asked to join the cast of the popular Mock Trial Presentation.
An interesting case in Sexual Harassment was re-enacted complete
with the attorney who originally tried the case, a real-life
plaintiff's attorney, and presided over by a real-life judge!
The case revealed to the attendees just how important it is
to ensure employees truly understand policies and procedures,
not simply sign the statements.
Different
from prior years, the TAB added a non-attorney to the schedule
of presentations in Meador's own Jill Silman. Jill presented
an abbreviated version of GForces@Work to the crowd. It appears
her presentation left them hungry for more! The TAB has asked
if she would participate in other meetings throughout the
state and 10 companies/organizations have asked her to speak
at future dates in 2007/2008!
Meador/Career
Consultants has participated at a sponsorship level for the
past several years. This year's sponsors included Ogletree
and Deakins, Kemp Smith, jobing.com, Best Places to Work in
Texas, Texas Coalition for Worksite Wellness and more.
